This is based on the concept of a Gothic Western. With this we are reminded of bands like Fields of the Nephilim (of which we have a cover by Sonsombre) who use to look like time traveling goth rockers who landed in the American Old West. With this compilation we wanted to bring a bit of it together but from a more inherently Goth Rock side including some Industrial influences to create what could be the soundtrack for an as yet unwritten Gothic Western film. One of the things that would set this film apart is that there may be creatures lurking in the dark and actual ghosts in this ghost town!

The Sacred Oak is the third album by electro-acoustic Neo-Medieval artist Mauerbrecher after almost a decade of hiatus. Whilst largely abandoning the band's previous gimmicky breakbeat-and-bagpipe sound, The Sacred Oak is no less dynamic than its predecessors. This album turns up the notch on the reverb-heavy soundscapes that Mauerbrecher is known for, especially by making heavy use of acoustic backing drone instruments such as harmonium and shruti box. The emphasis is still on melody, albeit with a meditative aspect that goes surprisingly well with the album's Medieval tinge.

Finul is the result of years of trial and error and experimentation recorded between 2011 and 2017 usuing a minimal approach and recording setup and requiring lots of revisions along the way. Finul remains very true to Industrial's roots and growth over the years and conveys a feelign of humanity within mechanization and commodification. The album is nihilistic to some extent but beneath the surface also reflects contempt for that philosophy. Like the cover image, "The Beast" represents struggle, conflict, and survivalism through either defeating the monster or becoming it.
